I had the Mirena IUD inserted on 7/30/10. It is now 8/25/10 and I have made an appointment to have it removed. I have been on antibiotics for the last 3 weeks due to consistent bacterial infections. I have had the consistent cramping, and although not bad, it's irritating. I've been moody and cry a lot easier than normal. All the bacterial infections have gotten in the way of our sex life, even one particular round of antibiotics was given to both of us because the doctor thought we had chlamydia. That test came back negative. My vulva is swollen and looks horrible, my labia seems to have shriveled and become dry, my vagina feels like it's constantly on fire, and the last couple of days I have been dealing with fever of 100 - 102. They ran a CBC on me, which showed nothing, my doctor noted that I had ANOTHER bacterial infection, which he didn't see on the slide (probably due to being on antibiotics for the last 3 weeks), but he could smell the odor and was able to get a bit of green discharge out of me. He gave me a shot and also 7 days worth of cream antibiotic to insert to get rid of the infection. I am hoping that after the Mirena is removed, and I finish up with the antibiotic, I can go back to being myself. I did notice, one of the few times we've had sex in the last three weeks, that I was dry. This is not at all how I was feeling, and it was quite upsetting for me. Prior to inserting the Mirena, we were an extremely active sexual couple. Now it feels like we never have sex for one reason or another, and the times that we have had sex, it's nothing like it was. This is very difficult to take for me. He has been extremely patient through all of this, as a matter of fact, more so, than me. I wish I had seen this site before I had the Mirena put in. If I had seen it, I never would have had it inserted and I would have insisted on birth control pills like I had initially asked for.
