Getting Mirena Removed
Posted over a year ago
i have had the mirena for 10 months.. and i'm getting it removed this Wednesday.. but my question is to the ladies that have HAD it removed.... does it hurt when they take it out because it hurt A LOT when they shoved it in there.. lol.. but please reply as quick as possible.. thank you
Red1964 - My experience was that it didn't hurt at all....less uncomfortable than a pap smear. Matter of fact, my Dr said "Are you sure you want it out?" and I said "YES" and he said "Already done!". It was just a small twinge and that was it! I hope your removal goes as smoothly!
Mspriss0607 - i hope so too.. i feel like i'm pregnant... at first i didn't notice it but as time went on.. i noticed that i couldn't loose weight..and i not only feel pregnant every day i look it to and i hate it.. but i hope it does go smoothly .. thanks for the reply....
Amazingbabe - Please let me know how you get on when you get this thing removed. I can't wait to have mine removed. I too have felt all the things that you feel and more, i ended up on tablet for anxiety and depression and its only now i realise it was all since i had the coil in. It is happening so many women but they are not linking it to the coil.......
Red1964 - I know what you mean when you say that you feel pregnant and you look it, too....it was the same for me. I looked the same as I did at 5 months pregnant! Mirena out and the bloating started to lessen the very next day. It took about 9-10 months for the anxiety to completely go away although it started to diminish little by little right from removal. I really get mad when doctors prescribed medication for the anxiety. If you didn't have it BEFORE the Mirena but start experiencing it after you get it installed, what ELSE can it be but the Mirena or the hormonal imbalance that it causes???
Mushymom - I am 24 hours post-mirena HELL! I was thinking it was all in my head on how I was feeling, but I just can't explain the relief I feel! My stomach even looks different today than yesterday. I told my husband to take a long look at my stomach before I went yesterday morning and I showed him my stomach this morning and he was truly amazed at the difference! (that was just in the 24 hours post mirena!)
This thing makes your body believe it is pregnant! (hence - no periods or light periods!)
I wish there was a way someone who was researching this thing - to get the true picture before going through with getting it! I researched and researched and never found anything negative on it. It wasn't until I started putting my symptoms in before adding the mirena (weight gain and mirena) that all of the negative stuff popped up!
Anyway, all I can say is I am so glad to have that damn thing out!
Oh, and no it did not hurt getting it out. The Dr. held it up and said everything looks good! I said, "oh, you have it out already?"
Good luck to you!
Mspriss0607 - it's been 24 hours since i got it... and nothing has really happened.. yea i dont' feel as bloated as i used to ... but that's one of the plus' um...i asked my gyno about the whole not havng a period and he swears on his diploma that its perfectly normal... but i still don't believe it.. i'm on birth control pills now... which i'm debating if i should stay on them or get the copper iud put in.. my coworkers say it's better than the mirena... ( which i believe) um.. but i haven't really bled.. after i got it removed it was spotting and now it's coming and going... um.. it didn't hurt AT ALL.. which i'm glad it didn't .. but that's about it..
