I got my Mirena placed Nov of 2009 when my son was 6 weeks old. I opted for this method as the Dr. I work for and my OBGYN's wives both have it.. so I figured.. if the Doc's wives have it, it has to be okay... Well, the insertion was no fun.. a little pinch? Lies right from the start. But after getting that overwith, I had dizzy spells for the rest of the night. No biggy.. but a little warning it could possibly happen would have been nice. Then the disgusting brown clumpy discharge for the next few days.. also unexpected. But again, past that. Next comes the loss of sex drive. I don't mean lack of.. I mean it got lost somewhere with the socks in the dryer! I've not found it anywhere! Anyway, the modd swings.. vicious. My poor family :( About 7 months later I start waking up in sweats, feeling like I can't breathe, rapid HR, tingling in hands. That too, seemed to pass until about a month ago. Nightly I started waking up completely drenched in sweat. The nausea after eating, breast tenderness (no, not pregnant). That too, happened for about a week. Then in the afternoon at work one day (3 weeks ago), when I eat, the flushing in my chest and head was unbearable. The sweating, the rapid HR, shortnes of breathe, the irritability was aweful. I got the Dr. I work for who said he doesn't see anything wrong and to lay down for a minute. I did as he said and it seemed to pass. It was at the end of the day anyway, so I headed home. This happened daily for the next week. Only the anxiety feeling is increasing drasticly each day this goes on. I went in for a Chest Xray and an xray of the stomach which showed the IUD in place and Xrays were negative. The flushing didn't come when I didn't eat, so I just kind of pick at food now as my appetite is near nothing anyway. My Doc says get a CT of the Abdomen and Pelvis. In the meantime, I call my gyno to schedule removal of Mirena after reading numerous posts of the same symptoms of anxiety, night sweats, anxiety, oh yea.. I forgot about the hair loss.. that too. as if everything else isn't bad enough, nausea, loss of labido, moodiness, irritabilty.. it was great to find out that I am not crazy! Or so I thought until I got to my gyno office for removal. He swears left and right that the mirena is not the cause of this and says that my symptoms will not go away after removal. Fine. Whatever. Just take it out. SO there I lay, happy as can be (well, as happy as you can be to be at that kind of office), but ready to be on the road to recovery! woohoo!.. and the doc says to the nurse.. hm.... looking looking.. jabbing..pulling.. 3 different sets of foreceps later.. he says.. I can't find it. I don't see it.. the strings must have gone up into the uterus. He tells me to get dressed and to schedule me for a hysteroscopy. Really? SERIOUSLY?!? ~sigh~ depression setting in
