It's been 2weeks today that I had Mirena removed and I have been so moody. I am short with everyone. I keep crying and Just feel like running away and hiding. Has anyone felt like this and will it get better. I just thought that I would feel like the old me 5years ago. I had it for the full 5 years and I was just hoping that thinks would get better. If anyone has some answers our felt this way please tell it gets better. Thank you.
Sherilyn1968 - No, your not alone. Its gona take a while for you to feel better. Its taken me five months to be back to normal. The first few weeks I did the same. I cried EVERY day. I could hold it together at work for the most part but when I got home and weekends tears would flow. I had some hair loss due to mirena and thought I was sad because of that. But now I'm still dealing with my hair but I feel sooooo much better. Tell the people around you whats happening and apoligize a head of time and let them no its the mirena talking and not you. It will get better. Hang in there.
PS My family and friends still love me, and I went nuts.
Mfrost - My bestfriend and I had our last babies a few months from one another and we both decided that Mirena was our best choice rather than getting our tubes tied. She had terrible problems with hers and had it removed about a year and a half ago. At first it was life as normal, but within a week or two I got a phone call from a screaming crying mother who was threatening to go check herself into the mental ward. I calmed her down, but the next few weeks were full of many of these phone calls. Her doctor explained her that it was b/c while on the MIrena your body stops producing progesterene (sp?) b/c the Mirena supplies it in a synthetic form. B/c the Mirena was no longer there and supplying the needed hormone her system was out of whack with estrogen. Her's evened out within a few months, and she did temporarily go on some anti-depressants but from what I understand this is a common problem.
I just had my Mirena removed last Wednesday (app. 5 days ago) and had my tubes tied and an ablation as I am done having babies. So far my moods have been fairly normal, but I have noticed an intense, overwhelming, constant craving for sugar. If anyone else has had this please let me know as it is becoming an issue, lol!

Salbias - I am start to feel a little better but at times a find my self still crying alot. I have been wanting sugar stuff alot to and it sucks was hoping on loseing some weight after having Mirena removed.
Blossom806 - I have had the Mirena out for nearly 4 months. Unfortunately my depression, anxiety and short temper are just getting worse and worse, I think it has a lot to do with my lack of a proper support system. My parents and my friends actually don't believe anything that I have said about the side effects and neither do my doctors. ( I have seen 4 separate doctors trying to find someone who will help me.) I am so glad that I have at least found some support through this site and the face book group because I really would have gone completely insane without it.
Your best chance at getting through the bad mood swings is going to be by making sure that you have a strong support system. I agree about warning your friends and family about what you are experiencing. The more that they understand whats going on - the easier it will be to cope. This forum is also great!! all the ladies here are very supportive too and their advice has helped me with a lot of issues!
