I had a Mirena put in place by my OB/GYN following the birth of our fourth child in July of 2003. Aside from some slight spotting all was well.
Eight months later I became seriously ill. With what I do not know. It took me about three months to begin feeling somewhat OK again.
Between then and now I have gained a large amount of unexplained weight. It is unexplained because I do not smoke, drink alcohol, do drugs. I eat a diet low in sugars, fats, calories, and carbs which focuses on whole grains, lean protien, fruits and veggies. I excersise regularly, and drink plenty of water.
After being tested my serum lipids are high (2x's normal) and seem to be having problems with glucose metabolisim. I have also not mensturated since before I got pregnant last in November 2002, and have a strange colostrum like discharge from my nipples. My doctor sees no reason for this. They say evidence points to a hormonal imbalance.
We are doing further tests, but meanwhile I asked to have the Mirena removed. It has been 1 week since, and I have still not had a menses cycle.
Other symptoms include swollen hands, feet and face at morning and night, severe acne, extreme insomnia, visual disturbances, loss of concentration and short term memory, fatigue, joint pain, tenderness of the deeper sensory corpusles of the dermis, extreme thirst, and frequesnt urination (could be related to fluid intake?).
If anyone else has had a similar experience I would like to hear your story. My e-mail is MrsCoconut@gmail.com
Thank you in advance,
Lynn
