Would red welps on the neck and arms predominantly be a side effect of Niacin?
Reese99 - Yes, Niacin can cause a maculopapular rash (to which you are referring to) or itchy skin. To be honest, I don't know what you should do. I don't know if it goes away after awhile, or if this warrants a change in your cholesterol medication. Niacin also causes a lot of flushing and so now I'm asking myself, "Would the flushing be the cause of the red whelps that are forming?" If so, there are tons of things you can do for that. Ask your doctor and see what he says. It's important to get this cholesterol thing in control!
