Change in Pills
Posted over a year ago
I just had my prescription refilled and the pill color has changed from off-white to orange and the NDC number is different. Have the pills changed? How can they do this without changing the name?
Reese99 - It is quite possible that your pharmacy has changed generic drug manufacturers. There are a number of different companies that manufacture that same generic drug and it depends on which pharmacy you choose to fill at. It is the same drug, just different appearance. Sometimes a pharmacy will change generic companies, 'tis all. The BRAND drug should always look the same though! It's always good to ask.
Duhmel - Found out from abbott Labs that the white pills were an old formulation and are no longer in production. The orange pills are coated and supposedly reduce flushing. Took my pills back to the drugstore and made them replace them with the newer formulation.
