I was taking 40mg of Omeprazole daily. I experienced some really bad side effects that I didn't know was from the Omeprazole until I stopped taking it. I was extremely lightheaded most of the time and I believe this product caused anxiety attacks , headaches and blurred vision. Not to mention heart palpitations. Since I stopped using it the anxiety attacks and light-headedness have subsided but the blurred vision remains.
Yoopti - i start taking it 3-4 months ago, and 1.5 months ago "august 2010" i was riding bike and all of sudden my heart beat went crazy up, shortness of breath, like asthma symptom. my doctor told me to take vitamin D, so I bought some and also bought vitamin B-Complex. very bad choice, when i read the side effects of B-Complex I stop using it yesterday, 10/9/10 and to day I stop using omeprazole, I have to see different doctor tuesday, 10/12/10 and have to tell her about my symptoms.
I can't stand out there in little warm wheather (80 - 85 F). my heartbeat goes up, i become short of breath and very sick feeling weak, even if i am in my truck and driving, seems like motion sickness.
like this morning,I took omeprazole before i eat breakfast, and after i ate I get chiiiils in my stomach, start feeling cold, and shakes, I didnot take any B-Complex or vitamin D, or anything else.
I tried to relax before i had to drive, well 3 minutes after driving it starts again, it is part anxiety too, so i take deep breaths and relax , but i could not drive , had to come back home again.
if I am out there in nice weather like: 80 to 85 F , it starts by:
very chiiiil cold feeling in my guts.
then my heartbeat start going up."perhaps partially because of anxiety"
shortness of breath.
feeling weak.
I wonder if it happens to othres too .

Linet96 - Dr prescribed 20 mg for me to take 8 oclock in the morning, everything goes fine till around 10:00 PM then anxiety, shortness of breath, numbness in my left hand and dizziness . Next day i didnt take it and i didnt have these symptoms, again i took it following day and i had exactly the same symptoms at the same time, tried to explain it to my Dr, but she said for dizziness take over the counter motion sickness tablet and insists that i take even 40 mg a day. So im going to quit taking it before i get heart attack. For me eating my last meal before 7:30pm works but has to be light meal like soup and bread or chicken salad . Hope this info helps.
Wantsthetruth - my fiance started taking prilosec and within 3 days he was having severe anxiety attacks...he has never been prone to them before. Also difficulty with breathing (feeling claustrophobic) and having heart palpitations. His doctor told him it was impossible to be caused by the prilosec. He stopped taking the medication anyway and after 3 weeks the symptoms are still there although not as severe. Does anyone out there know how long this poison stays in your system?
Phister - Just wait until your blood pressure rises. You'll be placed on blood pressure meds for the rest of your life. The doctors WILL NOT admit that these acid blockers screw you up.
I've been taking them for 15+ years now. Every single side effect that is mentioned in thes posts either has or continues to happen. Tinnitus, queasy feelings, racing heart, trips to the ER and nothing wrong.
Some of the worst anxiety anyone could go through. Shakes, tingling, pains in the joints and muscles while not doing anything strenuous.

Aggitated - I started Prilosec 3 months ago and a little over a month ago I started having terrible anxiety attacks, heart palpitations, and lightheadedness like no other. I have been off of it for a few days now and I feel better but I am still sooo lightheaded. The panic attacks and paranohia have subsided some. They come and go. How long will I have to deal with this. By the way... I was on the phone telling the nurse all about this and asking her how long it stayed in your system...she couldn't tell me a thing!
Phister - Aggitated-I don't think anyone knows how long this stuff stays in your system. I quit prilosec about 2 months ago, and the burning came back with a vengeance. I should have bought stock in TUMS.
I've tried the aloe vera juice and the apple cider vinegar with baking soda. I even tried Activia yogurt without any relief.
All I know is I've had the tinnitus from the beginning, and the panic and anxiety. Xanax is the best control for the anxiety and panic.

Xahne - yes I took Prilosec 40mg for about 45 days. it really screwed me up. I had terrible anxiety at times, horrible dreams, constipation some diahrea, light night sweat ( which come and go now).
I have been off the drug about 4 weeks I guess and returning slowly to normal but it was the worst nightmare I have ever experienced. of course the docs tell you its ok.
my doc gave me a script for 30 refills AND a script for valium. the drugs interact in a negative way. can you believe the incompetence ??

Acey7 - I stumbled upon this site while googling "heart palpitations omeprazole." I'm a very healthy 32 year old male without any major health issues besides a possible peptic ulcer. I was prescribed 20 mg of omeprazole for 21 days to relieve and heal my symptoms. Within 24 hours of taking the pill (one before bed time), I developed a fluttering sensation in my heart aka heart palpitations. Naturally I immediately called my doctor who had a nurse call me and explain that my symptoms don't match complications of omeprazole usage. B.S. I've never had heart palpitations in my life - okay, maybe once or twice, but never like this. I took one more pill last night and although I feel great because my stomach acid symptoms have subsided and my indigestion is gone, I've had 6-7 episodes of heavy heart palpitations today. As a result, the docs want to check me out first thing in the AM. Be forewarned, this IS a side effect of omeprazole usage. Now hopefully it goes away.
Yoopti - hello: I have to say listen carefully. 1st: don't worry so much. 2nd: do not fear the feeling... it is not what you think it is. it is called panic disorder. O.P. is not a good thing to take dear, stop taking it. but your symptoms causes you to get scared that there is something major going on. Nothing is going on. you can see a psychologist and talk to him. TRUST me it is not the case you are thinking right now. take deep breath 3 times and relax , don't let it bother you, But don't deny the feeling. are yo working? how is your stress in your life? don't get angry quick! instead take deep breath 3-4 times Slowly and relax, slow down your life to the slowest point. okay now listen carefully : No more Coffee "or tea", No more Alcohol. start exercising, work out is the best , little by little start walking or runing helps. its nothing my dear , its only fear, trust me no one has died from anxiety disorder panics. try hobby , read books, go to church and try to help others , it is very soothing for you, you have to change your life style, listen to Jazz or relax music. I know at this point you want to ask yourself wtf? but don't worry it is nothing, just some feelings, deep in the past, just remember past is gone, and you can do nothing about it, just forget it, dont live in the past, and dont worry about tomorrow , no one knows if there is any or not :)... live simple and happy!... if you get stomach reflux and heart burn, thats because you need to change your eating habit. less meat and more fiber. your stomach reflux is because your stomach acid PH is low, okay don't go explain to your doctor, just trust me if he knew this he wouldn't have given you the pills in fist place, so your stomach PH is low, so in order for stomach to digest better it has to produce more acid "with the same low PH acid", just think about it??!! now your stomach is full of acid and you get reflux, so stop heavy fat food, eat light, eat salads, boil chicken and only eat the meat and get rid of the juice, eat healthy , no more junk food, and one thing for sure you need to eat more fat free plain yogurt, and use lots of vinegar in your salad Everyday, to get your good bacterias back in your system. welcome to life my friend :) GOD BLESS >>
Thand0l - guys i am so scared you know iv been taking the omez for 5 months now and i fear that if i stop the acid will come scortching again and i land up in hospital with a bleeding ulcer like last time the acid part is just not comfy it ruins my day...so far so good im worried about the long term effects thought coz i m over the diahrea headache anxiety, racing heart etc...however is still get stomach pain of which i assume to be ulcers coz of all the curries and fried chips that i eat..Im however worried about the guy that mentioned High blood pressure as one of them syptoms my family has a series of blood pressure......people help i cant exactly just quit them just like that im only finishing my repeats in June>>
Pete W - I have been taking prilosec for over 5 years but in the last few weeks I've had many of the horrible side effects listed here (chest pain that lasts almost all day, anxiety attacks, night sweats, muscle spasms, fear of a heart attack). It has been shown that prilosec (and other PPI drugs) inhibit magnesium uptake and so probably what many of us are experiencing is magnesium deficiency from prolonged use of prilosec. Healthy heart and nerve function require magnesium. I stopped taking prilosec and just started taking a daily magnesium supplement (500 mg magnesium oxide, from Rite-Aid drugstore) and I'm already starting to feel better. Not sure how bad the heartburn will be once the prilosec has cleared my system (probably takes a week or more), but it can't be worse than these side effects.
Writey - What is the deal with Yoopti's comments - you're not helpful at all. These people are having serioius side-effects to a drug. No amount to vegetable, exercise, or relaxation is going to help. When you've essentially been poisoned by a drug, and your chest feels like it is closing, your heart is racing, and you are madly driving to the ER, there is no time to relax and eat vegetables. Keep your zen nonsense to yourself - it is not relevant to the symptoms people are describing here!
Writey - I was curious about what 'wantsthetruth' wrote, "Does anyone out there know how long this poison stays in your system?" Did you ever find out? How is your fiance doing now? I had shortness of breath, heart palpitations and a choking sensation just last night, even after having been off Omeprazole for 16 days (I had taken Omep for 3 weeks). You had written that your fiance was still having symptoms (albeit less severe) after 15 days, I would love to hear from you in this post as to whether your fiance improved over time?
Also, what your fiance exhibits, and what I exhibit seems to be classic Panic Disorder (ref: wikipedia), and I was paticularly interested in one sentence writted under the 'Causes' sub-heading, "Often the first attacks are triggered by physical illnesses, major stress, or certain medications".
Just a side note: I have been taking Xanax to manage my panic attacks, and it works great, but i take it as needed, and I decided to taper off my dose the last couple of days to see if I could manage despite some discomfort, and that's why I think I had a slightly worse attack last night, but popping Xanax put me right in about a hour or so. At this point, if I don't improve, I am looking at going on a long-term drug I guess (SSRI perhaps, at least I assume that will be my doctor's next move to combat this) otherwise I won't have a normal life - the shortness of breath stops me in my tracks - it is aweful! My attacks come at any time, just after I've eaten sometimes, or cooking, during a jog, or just when I am relaxing watching TV, there seems to be no consistent trigger, and though I categorise myself as a slighty anxious person, I am not noticeably stressed by anything at the time of these panic episodes.
Anyway, your post was a while ago, and I hope your fiance is going much better?
I would welcome anyone else's comments too, or similar stories.

(I never got heartburn or anything and still don’t except when I feel at my worst, my stomach feels very hot to the touch.) Four months later my symptoms got worse. Constantly carried a water bottle everywhere I went because my mouth and throat were so dry from anxiety. Short of breath just to even talk. I had good and bad days, but kept taking this “drug” not knowing any better. Around December 2011 it really hit me. I had gone to the ER about five times because I couldn’t breathe. The shortness of breath would last for days. Then, I was out of work for two months because I didn’t even have enough energy to get up. I had no desire to eat and went from 135lbs to 115lbs in a month or so. They put me on so many different kinds of anxiety drugs, which may have helped feel “some” relief, but I went back to feeling yuck. Then, I had enough and I stopped taking everything. Slowly…very slowly I started getting hungry and eating again. I returned to work, not feeling great, but tolerable. I stopped getting the real real bad anxiety attacks, but some shortness of breath at times. The only thing is I have been having heart or stomach palpitations everyday for over a month. At least 40+ times in a day. It almost feels like an adrenaline rush in my stomach, but with the feeling of the heart palpitations when your heart skips a beat or blood rushes real fast. I don’t know what to do. I’ve told my dr, but she just gave me a different kind of stomach pill other than omeprazole. Well, it’s still going on. Whether I take the meds or none, palpitations…a lot!

I too was diagnosed with a small area of Barrett's a few weeks ago without any signs of dysplasia. Have been on 3 different PPI's (only 20 mg) for 5 weeks with terrible side effects, all of which have been described above. The side effects have had me in the ER every week for the nausea, anxiety, weight loss of 10 pounds in 4 weeks, lump in throat, blurred vision, palpitations - you name it. I have decided to go off of Prilosec and take my chances with the Barrott's. How is your appetite now and how are you going to deal with the Barrott's? I am on day 2 of no Prilosec and feeling so exhausted but trying to remain optimistic for the outcome. Thanks to everyone's comments as I thought I was going crazy!
Tamimpuff - I would love to see this go to the fda. I too started taking prilocec and pretty soon after my heart burn got worse and i started having panic attacks that would last all day. I went to the e.r. and they gave me xanax. I never thought it was the prilocec that was causing the panic. For the month of march I spent in and out of the e.r. and my doctors office. They switched me from prilocec to protonix and the heartburn wasn't as often but i began to have chest pain and extreme anxiety and panic attacks. I thought I was going crazy. Then i found out it is listed as a rare side affect of ppi's (anxiety). So i began to try to go of and would make it three days befor the rebound affect would take place. Then I started having muscle spasms. One being a esophegal spasm while i was driving and then went into a full panic attack. I thought I was going to die with my daughter in the car. I called 911. It was the scariest moment in my life ever(i am 36). That day i pledge i was going of that medicine and i did. Its been three weeks and i have not had the heart tighting anxiety or panic attack. I went to a holistic doctor and she has me taking orange peel oil capsules everyother day and digestive enzymes. So the rebound never took place and the burn is getting way better. But now i am 18 days late for my period ( i am not pregnant) All i can say is this class of medication is really hard on the body and I do consider it poison.
Lab1718 - How long does this rebound last? I am on day 4 after being on ppi's for 5 weeks. This is worse than anything I have ever experienced!
Jackie225 - Reading all of this scares me so badly because my infant takes this kind of medicine. Nothing has been working for him though & I wonder if maybe he cries because of side effects now more than his reflux because there is no acid in it so that's why I don't get why he is still uncomfortable?? Plus it's strange one day will be fine & the next will be terrible. Later in the day seems to get worse also. He is best in morning time & early day.
Obviously babies can't tell us that they are having anxiety but he does rub his head from time to time, like the back of it but I thought it was his ear. Where does your head hurt when you guys get these headaches?

I'm an adult taking 20mg every day and ever since i started i'm having headache, dizziness, sometimes blurry feeling in eyes etc. Headache sometimes appear in one side and at times on both. Not sure if it's because of the medicine reducing acid, but my appetite seem to have become more. Naturally i'm completely freaked out, saw my dr today and got prescription for full body check-up just to make sure there's no other suprises. Hoping i'm fine. Also really hoping your infant gets better real fast and taken off the meds. Scary to read, the medicines which are supposed to treat us have their own side effects, some of which could be fatal :-(

Taz38 - Hi I am on ppi for the past 3-4 wks and this last week I am in terrible pain with really bad tummy pains, feeling sick but I am almost bent over double with the pain and wind :-( anyone else suffered this pain with omperzole 20mg?
Jackie225 - So the headaches are on the side of your head ? My son always puts his hand to the side of his head above or behind his ear. I really don't know what to do. He is worse without medicine I think but honestly he is becoming bad even on it. It seems to help so many other babies I just don't understand why it isn't helping mine. Also have any of you taken Prevacid? My son has been on that also. I wonder if side effects are the same. What did they do years ago before PPI's were made? Thank you for help. It's hard for me because I have never taken these myself so I don't know how they make you feel. I usually taste or take anything that I give my baby & I'm thinking of doing the same with this.
Mickiey - Before the stroke in 1999, I had palpitations for twenty years. Full-blown palpitations with hammering, pounding in my chest wall, thought-I-was-dying at least one or two times a week. The heart was frantic. Yes, I had myriad physicians. [link removed]
Msb77 - Headaches are more on the temple area, yesterday night had it on the left side and today on both sides. Didn't take the dose today and most likely going to stop here on, though not sure which is bad, taking the medicine or staying away from it. Eyes and throat feel so stuffy, i can imagine how it might be for kids, just a 20mg dose with so much effects.
Jackie225 - Wow I feel so bad for all of you. I'm pretty sure that my son will grow out of this(I really hope) I just hope it is very soon. Yes that is my dilemma, is it worse keeping my baby on these meds or taking him off & it's so sad because he cannot tell me. I plan to try teaching him sign language though.
I think if In were you I might try a holistic/natural Dr or approach. Or try a different type of medicine. I don't understand why they put infants on this stuff. They say that it is SOOO safe but obviously it's not and it's not even FDA approved for children younger than 12mos. I just trust my Dr's but sometimes I don't think they always know best. Just what they are taught which is to treat symptoms & then the side effect symptoms from that medicine, crazy!! Thank you for your input & I truly hope you all find some sort of resolution to this.

Annamarieanaya - I just figured out after 8 months of taking Omeprazole. My son was slowly dying with this pill. He was diagnosed with H- pilori. So, he had to take this med for up to three months after triple doses of antibiotics. After numerous visits to Drs., Specialist, no luck. They would say every time it's a virus. So, frustrated with all these Drs. I researched all the side affects. Low and behold my son was dying from every symptom from the pill that I was feeding him. Same dose 20 milligrams twice daily. Fever,chills,throwing up,swollen lips,severe headache,tightness in the chest,sore throat burning, stomach pain,severe flu symptoms joint pain all over, numbness in the arms,rash all over body,diarrhea for days,his body turning red no fever but body temp. Real hot to the touch,weight gain, and swollen legs ankles and all over body swelling. You name it he had it. Poor little guy he was loosing faith in all the doctors he had seen. He asked me many times when are they going to figure out what's wrong with me. The last two episodes were really scary. He couldn't walk or even feel his arms. He thought he was dying. We were both crying on the way to the hospital. The shocking thing is he doesn't remember the drive to the hospital. I stopped two days ago giving him that medicine that I call poison, instantly he felt better. But not without help with Benadryl and ibuprofen every night. So, my question is does anyone really know how long this stuff stays in the system, or is there long term affects? Hopefully my 11 year old son can move on from this horrible experience with no long term damage to his body. The comment he made to me was. It's kind of sad, my mom figured out what's wrong with me and the Drs. Couldn't. Hope this is helpful. Jellybean80 - I had taken Omeprazole for two months for a peptic ulcer. I didn't have any symptoms while taking it and it made me feel better. I did once or twice get the anxiety/ heart palpitations while taking it, but it was not as bad as right before I took it. I would also like to know when the side effects stop, because every now and then I still get the anxiety/ heart palpitations. It has been three months since I have stopped taken Omeprazole and I, too, never had any anxiety problems in my life (I'm 32). My symptoms seem to be triggered by caffeine, but not every time I drink it. I am currently seeing a doctor about it. My blood work and EKG all came back normal and now they are going to test more on the palpitations. Judging by everyone else's comments I'm guessing there still won't be an answer. I don't understand how the anxiety is a rare side effect. It seems common to me after searching online and I refuse to go on a medication for that. Has anyone been off it for longer than three months and still having side effects? If not, when did it finally go away?
Fpe7x - Just add one more to the record. Got a 14 pill 20mG WalGreen Ompeprazole OTC per the onsite pharmacist's recommendation to fight heart burn. Three days into treatment I was awaken by PVCs. Stopped taking meds for three days, PVCs were gone. This is the third day I resumed the meds, I am typing with PVCs right now. Never had any noticeable PVCs before this meds. Very healthy person who works out almost daily. Went to the dr. yesterday, he did not give a damn, and thought I was crazy and ignorant. One thing I know for sure, no more this med for me.
Missyvb - I took this drug for two weeks and had the following symptoms: chest pain (I thought I might be having a heart attack), arm, leg, back pain, severe breast pain, migraine around left eye and temple) I've been off of this drug for a week and still have some side affects. I swear since starting Omeprazole it has been the most physically and emotionally exhausting period in my life. It helped so much with the pain from the stomach acid which I was SO THANKFUL FOR. But on the 1st day of taking it, I got stabbing pains and numbness in my fingers & toes. It was a very weird and scary sensation but I had to keep taking it. Ever since then it's been a whirlwind of aches, pain, tingling and emotional problems. One day after taking it, I got my first real panic attack. I was left alone in the house. My arms went completely numb with fright and I almost blacked out. I was convinced I was having a stroke - turned out it was pure anxiety from the Omeprazole.
But Lansoprazole has caused dizziness that I can't get rid of at all. I'm so depressed about this situation now.
So far my symptoms have been:
extreme anxiety, dizziness and lightheadedness - I was bedridden for the entirety of week because standing up was too difficult, I haven't been able to go out for more than 30 minutes before needing to come home and lie down. It is very debilitating. vertigo - the walls literally spin for me.
numbness, twitching and jerking in all parts of my body, headaches, swollen throat and ears, arthritic neck pain and arm bone pain, sore mouth and tongue, painful points all over body, heart palpitations, cough, exhaustion & fatigue, vaginal pain, skipped beats (PVCs) lowered blood pressure, sudden choking fits, tingling face and lips, breathlessness, itchiness all over body, panic attacks, depression, the weepies (I almost never cry - I've cried everyday for the past 2 months.) It might sound like I'm exaggerating but I am totally being honest here. It has been hellish and I can't wait to stop, but my stomach pain comes back - it feels like a heart attack - so I need to keep taking it. It's a vicious circle.

But Lansoprazole has caused dizziness that I can't get rid of at all. I'm so depressed about this situation now.
So far my symptoms have been:
extreme anxiety, dizziness and lightheadedness - I was bedridden for the entirety of week because standing up was too difficult, I haven't been able to go out for more than 30 minutes before needing to come home and lie down. It is very debilitating. vertigo - the walls literally spin for me.
numbness, twitching and jerking in all parts of my body, headaches, swollen throat and ears, arthritic neck pain and arm bone pain, sore mouth and tongue, painful points all over body, heart palpitations, cough, exhaustion & fatigue, vaginal pain, skipped beats (PVCs) lowered blood pressure, sudden choking fits, tingling face and lips, breathlessness, itchiness all over body, panic attacks, depression, the weepies (I almost never cry - I've cried everyday for the past 2 months.) It might sound like I'm exaggerating but I am totally being honest here. It has been hellish and I can't wait to stop, but my stomach pain comes back - it feels like a heart attack - so I need to keep taking it. It's a vicious circle.
Guys, I literally feel like I'm 90 years old instead of 19.
I will be stopping this medicine soon. I can't believe a med which solely stops stomach acid could cause an array of such horrific symptoms. I sincerely hope everyone here finds relief.
Peachychou - Also I would just like to mention, that I have literally had to BOOK MYSELF INTO THERAPY/COUNSELLING for sudden extreme behavioural changes, constant anxiety and mood swings.
I had a mood swing and ended up in a fight with my sister (never even fought with her before) where I was so angry, frustrated and upset (coupled with depression) for the first time I literally smashed my room up and cut my wrist in desperation, I was so depressed. This is TOTALLY unlike me.
Due to vicious, irrational fights which I have instigated, I have lost my BOYFRIEND, BEST FRIEND and almost got kicked out by my FAMILY - who say they've never seen me like this before - they are literally scared of me since I started meds. The most upsetting thing is they say it's like they don't even recognise me, don't even know who I am anymore.
My behaviour has changed that much. I'm irritable, paranoid, emotional, violent, moody 24/7. I really feel like my quality of life has been completely stripped from me. In the space of 3 months I have turned from a healthy well adjusted carefree kid into a nervous wreck filled with aches in every part of my body. I feel like I'm dying.
I wouldn't be surprised if this evil drug has an effect on the central nervous system - because it has just caused me what I would call - psychosis.
I feel like I have no quality of life anymore. I can't go out because I fear I will faint because my blood pressure has dropped + anxiety = lightheadedness that lasts all day.
And at the risk of sounding crazy or playing the paranoid victim, I genuinely believe this pill has made me 'crazy'. I was the most laidback happy person in the world before I started this pill. Never taken a med in my life besides paracetamol. I have kept a journal since taking it and notice that on days I skip Omeprazole, I feel better. Not knowing when this will get out of my system is the scariest thing.
This stuff is POISON. Parents please, do not give your kids this, if it's harming grown 6'1 200lb men, imagine what it could be doing to your kids. POISON! The FDA should be ashamed for handing this horrible stuff out like it's freaking candy!

Longislandny - Hi everyone... I have finally found this board!!! Originally I searched "Cure or Heal Gastritis" etc Then "gastritis panick" etc.. It took me 2 months to realize it was the pill adding and worsening what was something almost healed.
I naturally worked at healing 2 years of reflux/likely peptic ulcers... with the only real way if not hpylori (mine wasnt) Small frequent meals, no tomato, oj, coffee, soda, chocolate etc. Staying up a few hours before sleep, sleeping on and incline, relaxing away from stress at friends house helped, keeping active on tasks with friends, and drinking coconut water, not just water (waters acidic when your irritated)
when finally well... made a mistake!! drank oj twice then took theraflu on a friends advice... adidy... with pseudafed! on an empty stomach, felt faint and scared to death... got sick from the acid and felt fine.
Next day.. took a prilosec.. by days end after having some fried food I had difficulty driving home... likely indigestion !(reduced acid/ nerves etc)
next day took it again... went by ambulence to a hospital...
next day took it again... ambulence again...
I was furious that all of the ambulence and hospital staff were giving each other the nod that I was fine.
I was relieved that I was fine, my vitals looking ok gave me hope.. but I was soooo light headed and they gave me aspirin... twice!! by then I was toast... sleep was heck... woozy dizzy... but no pill those days.. just full blown gastiris...
a friend said your stomach lining changes every 6 weeks that those incidents were over... but I was still sooo gaseous and was doing stretches and excercises on the floor to keep my stomach calm and stop the shaking... never knowing it was the prilosec...
I thought theraflu caused it..and prilosed couldnt stop it from getting ten times worse.
Then I read someone saying on another board.. was it him or did anyone feel worse from prilosec.. HMM.. so I googeled panick and prilosec and found the hard to find facts...
The solution is terrible and gastro doctors prescribe it for anything.
I cancelled one appointment with a gastor doctor when his secretary told me how good he was... how he knew his stuff.. and she understood... and has been suffereing from stomach problems for years............................ CANCELLED THAT APPT.. He isn't curing his secretary at his own office every day.
People are not being treated well and hospitals give people with possible stomach irritation an asprin.. and tell them to calm down when they can't!
We need to help people like ourselves who have not yet found this board and can't recover when the medicine is part of the problem.
It may help heal an ulcer or acid.. but should be used only if that is the only option and for very brief time..... diet and sleep are key. And if gastritis occurs.. change the medication... people are not aware.

32 year old, formerly perfectly healthy male. I was diagnosed with paradoxical vocal fold motion and was put on nexium. About two months after, my medication ran out and I accidentally delayed getting on omeprazole. Those two weeks without omeprazole were the worst and scariest in my entire life ...hours-long periods of extreme confusion, light-headedness ... Very frightening.
I got on Omeprazole and the most frightening bouts of confusion ended, but now I get a nearly daily (always in the late afternoon) ears-ringing headache, confusion, sensitivity to light, anxiety, sometimes a wam feeling in my chest and what feels like a louder heartbeat.
I want to get off of this poison, but feel that without it I might fall back in to the more terrifying episodes I was having before and my PVFM may become worse again.

Stillsearching - Stillsearching*>I had a painful sore throat 21 days ago and was diagnosed with acid reflux , GERD I was placed on omepeazole for a month 20mgs in the morning and gaviscone and domperidone for a week 60mgs a day.. (3 times daily)after 2 days thd pain went but I still had the crushing feeling in my cheat between my breasts... I do have a bit of blurred vision , thought it was my glasses as they were new, on day 17 I noticed a rash similar to hear rash on my face, eye lids etc and on my neck and chest... I've been applying aloevera gel to my face and neck and it's slightly improving,what's worrying me is I have this itchy feeling all over , like microscopic organisms are crawling all over my body, I've used a microscope to see and there is nothing, I even thought it was fleas or bug, PLEASE HELP has anyone experienced this?ive been given another months supply and been advised to be my own doctor as far as seeing how i deel after i eat certain foods, make sure i have omeprazole abd gaviscone he pain is gone,I still experience the heartburn or crushing in my chest. I also eat 3hours before I sleep... And I was never a bread water before now Im having my brown bread dry for breakfast with a thick slice of watermelon which is good no acid reflux and google alkaline foods of which most were already in my diet as I'm a vegetarian. Please help with this itchy crawly feeling!! Now i also have to like clear phlem from my throat and feels like there is a lump there of it and have to clear throat when i speak.i hope you all get well and God heals you soon.
