PredniSONE Asthma Attacks, Food Allergies, Eczema, Ankles, Asthma
Honestly I believe the proper problem here is that the doctors aren't prescribing it for the right reasons. There just using it as a quick fix. I personally thank Prednisone because without it I probably wouldn't be here saying this now. I'm 21 years old, and I remember having asthma attacks from the age of 5. Going in and out of the hospital every year. Sometimes even more than once or twice in a single year. Along with the food allergies and allergies to basically everything in general and the eczema things were a little rough for my parents and I. My eczema being the worst anyone has ever seen.. even from day one of being born. By 3-5 years of age I'd scratch to my bone.. now around my wrist and ankles are pure white from the scare tissue. Only thing they could do was give me Prednisone. I was an infant what else could you do for something as severe like that? Now that I'm older and can actually control and see what works FOR ME I'd highly recommend Advair for the asthma.. Just never miss a dose, once in the morning and once at night. Give it a week to actually show improvement and you will be pleasantly surprised. But if in the midst of taking it you miss, just one dose you'll feel your chest get tight as if your asthma is coming back and quickly. Then just recently my allergies have hit me worse than any time I could remember before. They prescribed me Astepro.. and boy did it work. The minute I took it I could smell fresh cut grass again.. The first time I could smell since spring hit. I could taste foods again, before than it had to of been weeks even months that i went without being able to taste foods, and it was driving me insane! But over all Prednisone WORKS, and has saved my live numerous times! Just take it for the right reasons.. Don't let your doctors take that road just to get them out of doing there jobs. Which seems to be a big problem now a day. Doctors are getting lazy and prescribing one thing for many reason for many people. When really it should be different for every person they see.. no ones the same. Also I'd like to add I'd highly recommend never to do long term uses of Prednisone. Just the quick week packs you can get of 21 tabs where you slowly tamper down each day. ... more »

Though one more note before I end my rant. I agree that the tampering down is the worst if taking this medicine for a long period of time. Once your on a steady dose for a week your basically addicted and once you start the tamper you will feel extreme withdrawal symptoms.. at least I did when coming off 8 pills a day.
