I am a 39 yr old female who has had good health until july 2008, where i collapsed and was diagnosed with plurisy. Over the next few wks, things got worse and I was admitted to hospital only to discover I had multiple p.e. on both lungs. Warfarin, fragmin etc made no difference and I ended up with a IVC filter. The clot in my left lung was apparently the size of an orange and my life was touch and go. I am happy to say I am slowly on the mend and in answer to recovery time asked by Mark, I have been told everyone is different, but can take up to a year. I to am on warfarin with a target INR of 2.5 but since this occurred, I am still on weekly clinic visits as it has not stabilised at all. Chronic fatigue is apparently part a symtpon from the clots, as I experience that too.
This is now Feb 2009 and I still have the clot, but smaller and a collapsed lung. My problem is the clot damaged nerves ends in my chest area while passing through and I continually have a buzzing, tingling in my hands, fingers and toes and every now and then I get a surge like an electric shock through my breast bone area into my throat and my body goes suddenly weak and faint and my heart thuds furiously. Nobody understands what I am talking about and my doctor hasnt heard of this. I am at my wits end now as it is such a horrible feeling. Has anyone else heard of this?
My docs at the hospital are baffled as the clots did not stem from my legs and I have had full body scans, numerous blood tests etc and all are coming back negative. 1 Year on and still no-one knows what condition I have. My inr can go from 1.1 - 5 in a week so there is obviously still a problem .......help!!!!
