google mental nightmares, the book s name fits the trouble of statin drugs" the mental nightmares horror and pain of taking cholesterol medicines" by kenny b. the horror story the doctors don't want you to see... fda was contacted and no reply thats why the book was wrote.... i know i still suffer from stomach troubles and worry about cancer in my stomach.... over 1 year with a ucler and joint pains, you name it , and to start with ,i was 45 and never,never , never i said ,sick! 56 now balanced between pain and just not right...you know why. i also took a peach color pill that burnt my stomach, i think this finish what the statin didn't do to me.

Ollerhead47 - i have being taken simvastatin 10mg for about 6 months now ive lost a stone but i get hot flushes again im now 64 + get painful cramp in my calf do u think these tablets this causes.

Swedish - I think the most important thing is to understand that there are lots of money in this for the pharmaceutical industry and people involved. I have never taken any statins - nor would I. People close to me did and I saw their suffering. After that I started reading one book after the other and realised that there are doctors/scientists that disagree with the Cholesterol Hypotesis. If you want to read more patient stories go to : spacedoc.net, askapatient.com and peoplespharmacy.com (enter simvastatin, Lipitor, Pravachol etc. and statins). I would also recommend a book by Uffe Ravnskov (The Akward ........?) and The Statin Damage Crisis by Duane Graveline. The Turth About Statins by Barbara H. Roberts is also interesting although I don´t agree with her recepies. Shane Ellison has also written a funny but interesting, little book about cholesterol. Then there are more general books such as: Selling Sickness (Ray Moynihan och Alan Cassels), Seeking Sickness (Alan Cassels), Our Daily Meds (Melody Peterson), Malignant Medical Myths (Joel M. Kauffman), The Truth About The Drug Companies (Marcia Angell), How Doctors Think (Jeromy Groopman) and White Coat Black Hat (Carl Elliott). If you google their names I am sure you will find a lot of interesting reading. You can also google the names of James Joseph and Hanna Joseph. They have written a critical book recently but I have not managed to get it her in Sweden. Another critic i Morley Evans who suffered from side effects and wants people to know. Malcolm Kendrick, in the UK has also written a book - The Great Cholesterol Con and so has Anthony Colpo (the same title!). Without the Internet I wouldn´t have a clue about all this.
