After three days on singular my ten year old became angry and throwing things around the house. When I tried to stop him he began to scream at me. He then grabbed me and tried to bite me and twist my arm like he was trying to break it. I intervened by calling my 15 year old son to help me restrain him. He growled like an animal for an hour in his room following. He is normally a respectful and compassionate child. He has dyslexia which is under the autism spectrim disorder. He is also hypoglycemic. He is not on any other prescription medications. I worked in psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment centers, in private practice as a licensed professional counselor and a licensed marriage and family therapist with my Masters in Couseling and Psychology, I worked in resource classes at several elementary schools, but I have never experienced anything like this before; it was horrible! I worked with nurse practioners and psychiatrists for 17 years and took psychopharmacology classes at universities. I took him off the medication. He had become a danger to himself and others while on it; with limited impulse control and intermittent rage attacks, he had become argumentative, negativistic, defiant, disrespectful, disobedent, similar to fetal alcohol syndrom or a child whose mother`s used crack cocaine while pregnant. He reminded me of one of the children I had worked with in a psychiatric hospital with intermittent explosive disorder. When I took him off the medicine all the symptoms stopped with in two days. It is toxic to younger children.
