I too, feel compelled to share my little dudes experience. My son started taking singulair 2 1/2 years ago. At first we loved it! His breathing was much better and was able to function close to normal- hockey, football ect...- we took him off of it late last fall because his breathing seemed better. We started up again in December 2010- He began having problems sleeping, focusing on tasks, very argumentative, down on himself, and throwing uncontrollable fits. This became progressively worse. My wife and I were beside ourselves. It had gotten to a point that we were up from 2-5 am almost everynight trying to get him to get to sleep. What had happened to our little guy. Was he "one of those kids?" My wife was to the point she was calling me at work crying, she could not control him in the morning. Everytime we said "no", it turned into a 30-45min fit of crying and rage. The last fit he had (8 days ago), he was shaking and saying "dad, I can't stop crying, I can't stop . What is wrong with me." My wife and I sat down and discussed what we could do, something had to be done. And then I went on the internet and started researching some of the medicine he was on, and BINGO! I found pages, upon pages ,of horror stories of Singulair side effects- We both were absolutly sick to our stomache. How could we do this to our little guy, feed him this drug??!!!! I took the pills and chucked them in the garabage. He has not touched them since. We noticed a MAJOR difference in his mannerisms, demeanor, and his sleeping 2 days after taking him off. We have our little dude back!!! We have made an appointed with his ped. to find another pill to help with his asthma. If any of your children are on this drug Singulair, or you are considering putting them on it, I URGE YOU, Educate yourself on it. It may help and have no side effects in some people, but in others, it is a life changer (for the worse) . We are all made different. Some people can eat peanut butter, some can't. PLEASE, PLEASE, watch your children on this drug. I hope this helps someone out.....I have never posted anything on one of these boards...Im your average dad- but this is very important. Chris L
