My neurologist prescribed Topiramate for facial pain. I took four pills-1/day at bedtime starting 7/16/10. I went off the pill 7/20/10 because I was not having a good reaction to it. My headache started Sunday evening 7/25/10. My distance vision was blurred, and my near vision perfect. This was totally opposite of what my vision should be. I had a terrible headache and took 3 aspirin and went to bed.
I woke up Monday, 7/26/10 7:00am and I could not see. I had a terrible headache. I went to emergency room, had a catscan, bloodwork and was told to see my opthamologist immediately.
I went to the doctor who, thank goodness, was only 1/2 mile away. She saw me immediately and said she had never seen this before-my ocular pressure was so high it had distorted the shape and caused the vision changes.. She left the office and came back with eyedrops to drop the pressure. She told me I would have been blind had I not arrived at the office when I did. We did 3 different drops and pills for 4 days. I saw the doctor every morning and slept for 4 days and could not drive.
My vision in left eye is still not sharp. My night vision was razor sharp-now it is blurred. I am still taking a drop for the swelling in the back of my left eye. It took 2 weeks before I could read for more than 15 minutes. I still(9/5/10) have pressure in back of the left eye and my left eye vision is still not back to normal. My readings are all fine, but the pressure is still felt.
