    Upping the dosage of Niaspan is like starting Niaspan all over again. Take an aspirin 30 minutes before you take your 1000mg of Niaspan. This will block the flushing you experienced. You'll be fine.

    I was doing the same but with more applesauce (1 to 1.5 cups). I was able to stop taking the aspirin and just have the applesauce. I get unsweetened applesauce that has a thicker consistency - seems to prevent flushing better than the thin runny stuf - 1% more...

    I have been taking it and the flushing was with the first few doses and then there were no flushing or tingling. I also take it before I go to sleep every night. So do not be afraid to take it. It has the least side effects compared to all the statin - 9% more...
