Wellbutrin Hair Supplement, Amazon, Supreme Court Ruling, Detrimental Effects, Weening

We all need to get together and create a lawsuit for Wellbutrin and (Bupropion) or at least toward our insurance companies and pharmacies for not giving us this warning. This has significant detrimental effects to our well being! Given the U.S. Supreme court ruling that says that even if the FDA has approved a medication, a pharmaceutical company is still responsible for fully reporting side effects and can in fact be sued in individual states if they do not provide sufficient warning!! ... more »

We all need to get together and create a lawsuit for Wellbutrin and (Bupropion) or at least toward our insurance companies and pharmacies for not giving us this warning. This has significant detrimental effects to our well being! Given the U.S. Supreme court ruling that says that even if the FDA has approved a medication, a pharmaceutical company is still responsible for fully reporting side effects and can in fact be sued in individual states if they do not provide sufficient warning!!

I started taking 150mg of Bupropion THREE weeks ago and then up to 300mg ONE week ago and have had significant hair loss, I have fine blond hair anyway but I have easily lost half of my total hair!! I'm so furious that no one told me about this side effect, not the Dr., not the pharmacy and not my insurance company! I am definitely looking into suing because this has effected my well being and I am now incredibly insecure and unhappy. I am stopping Bupropion today, no weening just done! I'd rather go through all the withdrawals then to be a balding 29 who is supposed to be getting married in a few months! Exercise and diet will cure my depression, I'm sure of it.

There is a great hair supplement called Nioxin. The reviews on ***** attest to how great it works. I already have 3 bottles ready to take!

Robertajm - I am also experiencing extreme hair loss. I have always had thick hair and now it is thin. Hair is all over my house, especially my bathroom floor, tub and sink. It is clogging my drains and I have to clean my hair brushes twice weekly. I take no other medication except 150mg. Bupropn (Wellbutrin). I called my pharmacist and at first he denied hair loss as a side effect. He told me not to stop taking the medication until I speak with my doctor because of rebound effects, particularly extreme anxiety. I don't want to lose more hair. I want compensation for this. It is appalling that it is not listed as a side effect. I never would have taken this medication if I knew about hair loss. Please keep me informed about this being a legal issue.

Crazylegs5870 - I have been on Bupropion going on two to three years and my hair is so thin. I am so scared...After listening to this I am going to get off of this Med and get on something else. And Pray to GOD that my haif comes back!!! No one told me either and I think it has made me gain weight too!! I am with you..I would have never taken this either if I would have known what I know Now!!! MY HAIR USED TO BE BEAUTIFUL and FULL!!!

Crazylegs5870 - I agree with you on this. I have been taking the same amount as you and I have had severe hair loss and scared to death about losing more. I am going to stop taking this med as soon as possible. I don't know what to do about the hair loss and Weight gain. I have been using the Rogaine and I don't notice any change which makes me very self conscious about my appearance and Embarrassed. I wish someone out there could help!!! Everything that has happened to you has happened to me on this generic version and I don't care about even attempting to switch to the non generic version especially after reading these posts!!

Omgitscarol4400 - I have been too trusting in taking meds that are prescribed by my doctors. I've been taking Bupropion HCL SR 200 mg and have noticed hair loss for quite some time. I'm afraid to shampoo as the sink is always full of hair. I cannot comb my hair without a comb full of hair, and if I keep running the comb through my hair, each time I have the same result. My hairdresser told me to report it to my doctor. This haridresser has found that some of her clients have had problems with blood pressure meds causing hair loss also. This was corrected by the doctor reducing the dosage. I'm convinced that my problem has been caused by the Bupropion. I've trusted my doctor to prescribe medications, and make me aware of possible side effects. I go to her every 3 months and it seems if she were up-to-date on the latest studies she would be watching her patients that are taking meds with known side effects. I agree, someone should be held accountable for their ignorance in this matter. Doctors are educated and get paid by insurance companies/patients for the services they provide. My hair loss could have been nipped in the bud a long time ago. I'm wondering what other harm is being done to me by negligence in not bringing information to my attention so that I could be looking for a possible problem to report to her. I should not have to depend on my hairdresser for this type of advice.

Phleb4464 - Hi. I work in a laboratory and also worked in pharmaceuticals for 10 years. Your hairdresser should stick to what she knows, Hon. Hair loss is definately NOT a side effect of bp medicine! In fact, a lot of people notice hair growth and accumulation when they take bp meds. Minoxodil was originally a bp med for goodness sake. I would say that you should have your thyroid checked, ask your doc not only to write a blood test for tsh, but also t4 and free t4. Your tsh can be within acceptable levels, but your t4 etc could actually show if something is amiss. This is a common factor in benign goiter, hypothyroidism, etc and the remedy is simply synthroid, with almost no side effects. Hope this helps.

Unless you are one of the multitude that have taken Wellbutrin & have experienced the frustrating follicular fall-out first-hand, well your credentials in the laboratory mean little. I also used to have thick, full hair that's now dry, course & thin, thanx to Wellbutrin, which I am currently trying to curtail. When you find that the only way to save your hair is to catch it in a bowl before it hits the ground or stop taking this product, then get back to us.

Trekjudy - I had started Wellbutrin xl 150 mg one a day, been on it for 3 weeks and have noticed a huge change in my hair. I am losing a lot of hair and my hair is extremely dry!!! I am so upset, plus I am a runner and since I have been taking Wellbutrin my mileage has decreased. I tire very easily. I am calling my Doctor in the am worried about quitting cold turkey.
